You may have noticed that here at Ralph, we love the colour pink. It’s something we have in common with leading independent and contemporary gallery EDiT. This summer the south east London based gallery is hosting a pop-up exhibition called PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY. So this week we thought we’d use our newsletter to spotlight them and their latest charity fundraiser [we’re so nice aren’t we? - Ed].
The exhibition, which runs until this Sunday, 20th July, is a celebration of all things pink, featuring collaborations with a whole host of some of the best and brightest artists on the scene.
Often limited to associations of softness and femininity, pink has long been mischaracterised. PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY aims to explore a much broader interpretation of the colour, examining its full spectrum.
“Pink is without doubt my favourite colour, especially fluorescent pink. ” says Hackney Dave, one of the artists featured in the exhibition. “It’s loud and positive. It’s optimistic and full of energy. It’s fun, childlike and stands out. There are three colours with real hard meaning. In the red: trouble. In the black: financially solvent and not in debt. In the pink: in great health and spirit. This is why I love pink. It’s the fucking best”

Other artists involved include Frankie Boyle, Cassandra Yap, Bhavin Bhadresa and Hannah Lipsey.
Lipsey told Ralph “Pink has a kind of in-your-face energy and boldness to it, which I love to try and capture. It's a challenge but I don't let that stop me. Just as you shouldn’t let societal norms box you in - pink is for everyone.”

PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY is a reminder that no colour is confined to one definition or category. It invites everyone to rediscover the power and beauty of pink through the lens of contemporary urban art.
During the PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY exhibition, EDiT. are supporting a cause that’s incredibly close to their hearts - fundraising for their amazing team member Dio’s gender-affirming care. Hackney Dave has donated an exclusive edition to the gallery, with exclusive t-shirts from Mister Samo, Sara Pope, Nathan Bowen, Bhavin Bhadresa, and Cassandra Yap, 100% of the profits from both going to Dio’s care.

Founder of EDiT., Bee Hepworth told Ralph, “With PiNK iS FOR EVERYBODY, we're not just showcasing brilliant artists- we're thrilled to be able to add our voice to the ongoing fight for access to gender affirming care. We are proud to use our platform to amplify the cause: gender-affirming care is a human right not a privilege. At EDiT., we stand in solidarity with trans lives, trans futures, and the everyday fight for dignity and care.”
The exhibition runs until this Sunday 20th July and includes a wide array of mediums, including light installations, perspex wall pieces, limited editions, drawings, screen prints and originals. The works will range from strikingly abstract to hyper-realistic, showcasing the work of a diverse group of artists who each draw on their own experiences to explore the colour pink in its many interpretations.
If you can’t make it, but would like to donate to Dio’s fundraiser, you can find out more information here.
